DIARY OF A SEED
Diary of a Seed (published January 2024) is a collection of short stories, poetry and photography. “A collection of writings chronicling the planting of a seed, the tears that watered it, and the blooming of a flower that found its face in the sun.”
HOODWEAR DIARIES: THE ZINE
The inaugural edition of the Hoodwear Diaries zine was published in 2021 as part of Aishamanne’s capstone project at The New School. The zine, and the project it was named after, is about the impact of hip-hop culture on fashion and the ways that the significance of this impact, and the people who created it, are too often forgotten. The project investigates the politics of streetwear, a fashion genre in which the title itself denotes being on the outside looking in. Hoodwear Diaries explores and celebrates the true tastemakers of fashion, the black and brown youth for whom the streets are both their runway and their home.
ALCHEMY MAGAZINE
Alchemy Magazine was an arts & culture publication for Black students at The New School. Created by Aishamanne in 2019, Alchemy was the first publication dedicated to Black students in the university’s history. Its aim was to provide the Black student population with a platform to share their creativity, enjoy each other’s work, and voice their unique experiences with existing in a predominantly white institution.
